This year’s Irish 1720 National Championships are to be held once again in Baltimore, West Cork from 9th to 12th September.
Last years event attracted 15 boats including three boats from the O’Leary Family and were held in magnificent champagne sailing conditions.
This year’s event is set to attract in excess of 20 boats and the competition is getting tighter than ever with a good fleet racing through the Winter and Spring out of Crosshaven in Cork. Travel to cork is much improved now that the new Co-operative run Swansea Cork Ferry has been re-instated operating night sailings in both directions - http://www.fastnetline.com.
If really keen, why not make a summer of it by coming over for Cork Week 10-17 July, leaving the boat and returning for the 1720 Baltimore Cup and Calves Week from 29th July and then the Nationals in September. Storage can be arranged Free of charge in Baltimore, accommodation for the nationals is available at off-peak rates and the craic is second to none with a great atmosphere in host club Baltimore SC. Details can be found by joining the facebook 1720 sailing page or by using the email link of the baltimoresailingclub.com web site.
What's the situation for lift in and out and moorings ?
Thanks Bob
